The Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor Review
I had been eating oatmeal for a whole week now. Even though I love my dried cranberries and my oh-so-healthy oatmeal, I needed some variety! (I’m picky, remember?) So, I decided to venture out to the Omelette Parlor in Costa Mesa for some good ol’, sit down breakfast.
How can anyone resist a restaurant with a name like ‘Omelette Parlor’? I sure can’t, even though I know names can be deceiving! Nevertheless, if something’s got egg in it, it must be good right? That is right my friend, this place does not disappoint your taste buds and will surely wake you right up in the morning (or afternoon)!
To be frank though, even though I love eggs and omelettes, I found that the Belgian waffle at the Omelette Parlor was to-die-for! The omelette was good, but it was just no match to the waffle. I’m still willing to try out other variations of the omelette at the Omelette Parlor though–I can’t resist eggs!
The Costa Mesa Omelette Parlor Review
Overall:
Food & Price
Pinkley’s Cure Omelette ($8)

Bacon, red onions, tomatoes, and jalapeno cheese. From Alvin’s drugstore, this one cures whatever ails you! Omelette Parlor menu
- Eggs are fluffy, cheese is nicely melted, bacon is crispy, tomato is juicy, and red onion is slightly sweet. Though the menu said jalapeno cheese is used, I didn’t taste any jalapeno flavor at all.
- All the ingredients in the omelette go well together, and the omelette tastes good, but I didn’t feel like it was anything special.
- Their home-fried potatoes, on the other hand, are awesome. Crispy on the outside, nice, soft, and starchy on the inside – just how I like my potatoes. Top it off with some ketchup, and you’re good to go.
- Try their apple butter with the wheat nut English muffin. The funny looking spread will definitely surprise you. You’ll want to finish off the muffin even though you’re already full from the omelette and potatoes.
- Portion is fairly big, so $8 is not bad at all.
Combo Waffle ($7.50)
Belgian Wonder Wa-Fulls: A sensational fruit-topped waffle, topped with cold fresh strawberries, or hot bananas and walnuts sauteed in butter and brown sugar. Either one is served with mounds of freshly whipped cream. Yum!
Combo Waffle: Can’t decide? Try it all; hot bananas, walnuts, strawberries, and whipped cream too! ‘ Omelette parlor menu
- Best waffles I’ve ever eaten! I am so not kidding you. You need to try this! You will not regret it!
- Ask for extra crispy – crispy on the outside, yet nice and fluffy on the inside.
- I also asked for whipped cream on the side, so that it wouldn’t make my waffle soggy.
- Bananas are delicious – the brown sugar adds a nice sugary touch.
- Pecans add a nice crunchy texture. How can you complain when something’s been sweetened with brown sugar!
- Strawberries are fresh and sweet.
- You don’t even need to add additional syrup! That’s how good it is!
- I definitely like this more than the omelette. Maybe this place should be called the Waffle Parlor.
Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice ($2.25)
- Always nice to drink a freshly squeezed OJ, but it comes in a pretty small glass.
- Good, but not worth the price. Sorry, have to ding them for this one.
Service
- Surprisingly, there was no wait at all. I would think it was peak hour ‘ Saturday before noon.
- Waitress was nice and friendly.
- Food came out fairly quickly.
- There was no cream (for coffee) on the table though.
Ambiance
- First thing’s first – the exterior of the restaurant has a sign that reads Chester Drawers Inn. The words ‘Omelette Parlor’ are barely visibly written on the windows.
- Quirky interior – walls are dec’d out with old school photos, hand drawn paintings, old pots/pans, rooster toys, etc. Still cool.
