How to Slice Mango
Summer season means mangoes! Did you end up buying a box of mangoes like me, because you couldn’t resist? Yeah, I feel ya. Mangoes smell so good and good ones are so sweet. I like Kent variety mangoes since they have minimal to none fibers. I don’t like having to chew on fibers. It just ruins my mango eating experience.
So you’re ready to eat a ripe mango. You start by peeling off the skin. The mango becomes super slippery. You try to slice the mango. But you just end up making a mess with juices flowing all over. Oh! Pardon me, I guess I was talking about myself.
Anyway, don’t do what I did per the above steps. Instead, try slicing the mango using the awesome slicing tip below. No mess, maybe a bit of juices flowing, but you’ll enjoy the mango much much more! Happy summer!
How to Slice Mango Tip
Ingredients

- 1 ripe mango – I like Kent variety
Directions
- Eyeball where the pit should be – middle of the mango.
- Try to avoid cutting the pit, but you want to slice as close to the pit as possible.
- Slice the sides off first, left and right.
- Now you’re left with the pit in a semi-rectangular shape center.
- Slice off the sides cutting as close to the pit as you can.
- Slice the mango pieces off the pit into a grid, making horizontal and vertical lines, without cutting it through the skin.
- Repeat for the smaller side pieces. Probably can’t make a grid this time, but more of a row of boxes.
- Push the mango skin side in, so that the meat is projected outwards.
- As for the meat remaining near the pit, you can either try your best to cut the rest off, or just chew on it!
- Enjoy!
