How to Cook Brown Rice
Brown rice or rice, for that matter, is a staple food. You probably can’t get away from it. For the better of your health, try to choose brown rice. It’s got lots of good stuff in it, compared to its white rice counterpart. I won’t go into the health benefits here; I’m sure you’ve heard it all! At least I have from my health-conscious mother. But I don’t mind brown rice at all ‘ I love how it’s got the extra bite/chew factor.
If you don’t know how to cook brown rice, it is no laughing matter. How can you live with yourself! Okay, okay, I’m sure you can buy it somewhere, but the philosophy at Recipe Mama is that why buy when you can make it yourself!
The steps to cooking brown rice is so easy – just make sure you have a rice cooker! Trust me, invest in a nice rice cooker and your life will be much easier, and tastier in this case!
Brown Rice “Recipe”
Ingredients

- brown rice – any kind of your choice
- water
Directions
- Rinse the brown rice once in a bowl.
- For each cup of rice you’re cooking, make sure you use 1.5 cups of water.
- Soak the brown rice by covering the rice with water in the bowl. Soak for 1 hour.
- Pour the rice and water into the rice cooker.
- Make sure you select ‘Brown Rice’ if your rice cooker has that option.
- Once the rice cooker deems the rice as cooked, fluff the rice before eating. You’ll notice that the rice was bubbling madly and the rice cooker’s probably got bubble stains on the sides. Don’t worry, this won’t kill you.
- Serve immediately.
